The Vision

We are not just opening a clothes and hygiene closet; we are launching a Community Boutique. Opening January 2, 2027 at 12903 Gordon Road (previous teen center), the Helping Hands Closet will be a curated, 1,100 sq. ft. space where neighbors in crisis are treated as honored guests. Our mission is to move families from the feeling of “charity” to the experience of “community.”

Who Is a Sorter?

A Sorter is more than a volunteer — they are a Curator of Quality and a Guardian of Dignity. Sorters don't just “process donations”; they decide what is worthy of an honored guest. Every beautiful boutique moment begins at the sorting table, long before the doors ever open.

Your Impact Behind the Scenes

  The Grateful Receive: Be the first hands to receive every donation — welcoming each gift with gratitude and care, because every item represents someone's generosity. Until opening day, all donations are received directly by Millie and Cedric Brown — never dropped off at the church or the facility.

  The A-Grade Standard: Sort every garment against our retail-quality standard — clean, gently used, excellent condition, and freshly washed before handoff. Stained, torn, or heavily worn items never reach the floor. If it wouldn't honor a guest, it doesn't make the rack.

  The New & Sealed Rule: Socks and undergarments must be brand new. Hygiene products must be new, unopened, and unexpired — full size preferred, travel size welcome. Baby care and feminine care items must be new and unopened. No exceptions — dignity is in the details.

  The Inventory Rhythm: Organize, label, and track what comes in so the boutique stays stocked, balanced, and beautiful.

  The Boutique Restock: Partner with Dignity Advocates to keep racks full and the space feeling like a modern retail sanctuary — never a warehouse.

Next Steps for Launch — Opening January 2, 2027

  Attend an Orientation: Learn about our “Choice Model” and the Love First guest journey.

  Complete Onboarding: Submit your Service Agreement and background screening.

  The Prep Season: Join us in the coming months as we paint, install fixtures, and “Stock the Boutique” ahead of our January 2, 2027 opening.
